Konami Celebrates Metal Gear's 20th Anniversary with Metal Gear Solid 4 Showing

Legendary Video Game Creator Hideo Kojima Conducts Real-Time
Presentation of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Discusses New Projects at Event

Konami recently hosted an exclusive party at the newly opened Ritz Carlton hotel in Tokyo in celebration of the Metal Gear video game series' 20th anniversary.

Hosted by series creator and head of Kojima Productions, Hideo Kojima, the party began with a formal press conference, featuring an official announcement of the latest iterations of Metal Gear Online and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus.

Metal Gear Online
Based on Metal Gear Solid 4's next-generation graphics engine and new control scheme, Metal Gear Online will mark a ground breaking direction for the series and online multiplayer gaming when it launches for the PLAYSTATION3 computer entertainment system. Making its debut with Metal Gear Online's next generation debut is the SOP system – a cornerstone gameplay mechanic that encourages players to link together with teammates' nanomachines to build a matrix of real-time information that includes teammates' whereabouts, battle condition, and location of nearest enemy.

Furthering Kojima Productions' dedication to developing a "strategic multiplayer experience," players can also infuse a variety of skills to enhance and differentiate their battle strategy. Featuring playable characters and expansive environments from Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Online represents the studio's total commitment to creating a deep and fully functional Metal Gear multiplayer experience.

Sky video beaming down to PSP

It was bound to happen. From early next year, video-hungry Brits will be able to download PSP-ready movies and TV shows from the satellite broadcaster, Sky. That's not new, we hear you cry. Well it's the first European service with the Sony stamp of approval, which means TV shows on the PSP will be in the highest quality they can be. Details aren't clear yet about price or what resolution the downloaded videos will be in, which is important given that the new slim PSPs will have video out. What we do know is that users will be able to download video straight to their PSP with wi-fi or via their usb-connected PC. So will people buy video when they can already convert their own? Metal Gear Portable Ops+ Expansion Report

Special Agents this is your mission briefing! You are being called to arms once again to kidnap and recruit soldiers with special tactic/medical skills for this new installment of MGS Portable Ops+. Some might already know the stories of Big Boss and the Metal Gear super weapon, since its debut in 80's. For years you have helped Big Boss Snake and his supposed genetic offspring Solid Snake fight for the good of man kind. So once again attach your silencers and strap on the bandana, because it is time to prepare for the new expansion of Portable Ops+ for the PSP.

Reports show that this game is more focused on the online aspect than the story mode. With new stages and characters to boot especially a nice ninja character to use. You will be surely entertained by these new features. Oh but don’t worry Konami has also installed a nice single player mode called "Infinity Mission". Sounds kind of G-14 classified if you ask me.
